A Doctors Good Advice

On several occasions I have been asked what facial cream I use. Believe it or not, I use Ponds. Once in awhile I use a coconut milk scrub that I make but Ponds is my daily facial cream.

As a young girl 16, we moved permanently to Phoenix in the summerª, my skin was not acclimated to the weather, I developed a rash that covered my face, if I smiled the dry scab would crack and bleed, and because of the itching it became worse and began to spread . After several weeks of trying this and that, my mom took me to the doctor, Dr. Kohn, and he advised me on what I needed to restore my skin and become used to the elements. No medications were prescribed just simple facial washing with Dove and going out less often to get used to the dryness and heat but staying in the shade, the third piece of advice he gave was that I give my face a wash with goat’s milk every other day until my face healedI followed the instructions and it worked. I continued with the milk until I was in my late teens.

Usage
·         Goat's milk is consumed by more people worldwide than the milk of any other animal, according to the American Dairy Goat Association. Goat's milk is used in much the same manners as cow's or buffalo's milk, as a drink, to make creams, cheeses, ice creams and even to make soaps and beautyproducts. Goat's milk is also popular for use in baby formula, as goat's milk is considered closer to human milk than cow milk.

(My doctor was of Asian decent and as I researched the benefits of goat's milk, I see it is the milk mostly used in Asia.)

History
o       Goat milk has a long association with human history, especially in Asia and Africa where approximately 80 percent of the world's goat population resides.

The first time ever I saw your face,
I thought the sun rose in your eyes,
And the moon and the stars,
    Were the gifts you gave,
To the dark and the endless skies.

...The first time ever I saw your face,
Your face, your face, your face.

I was around 19, still living at my parent’s home, when a commercial about a face cream and the music made me cry. The song said, “First time ever I saw your face…” by Roberta Flack, so, I began to use Oil of Olay as a cream from then and through my twenties and all because of a song. (Silly me)

By the time I turned thirty I had my three kids and started to see a few changes. I asked Ralph, "Do you see the crows feet around my eyes?" He cupped my face and said, "No, all I see is the beautiful young girl I fell in love with many years ago." Aww, I hugged him tightly.

Now, I am in my forties, looking at fifty in a couple of years. I started using Ponds probably after turning thirty. It's been over 17 years. It is not one of the expensive creams that probably get their water from the “Fountain of Youth” but I am happy with Ponds.

As, for my soap, I still use Dove but once in a while I use Yardley of London's Almond Milk. I also use Yardley's, St. Ives Oatmeal and Shea Butter moisturizer as a body lotion, too.
Yardley London Almond Milk Natural Bar Soap
"Our unique Shea butter and sunflower oil blend penetrates and protectspure goat's milk serves as a natural skin moisturizer, while organic honey and sweet almond oil smooth and soften" Yardley

Mostly, Dove as the cream-bar my doctor recommended and Ponds, simple and inexpensive, but I think they work. I still use milk but in a soap of almond milk and as I stated above in a coconut milk scrub.

I enjoyed our visit together. I hope you did, too.
I dedicate this post to my niece, Victoria, because she sent me an email asking me for my beauty secret.
    I love you, Victoria.

    The Prettiest Word

    Lady

I was asked if I would help out with a group of nesters (newbies) in their final week of training where I would be their quality: monitor and coach. It was a great experience for me, although, I have helped before but in side-by-side where they observe and learn from me without asking any questions of me, this time I was able to direct, point out some helpful tips and then come back and coach. I loved it. I immediately set out to make the group comfortable with me so when I step-up beside them they saw me as "Darlene" who is there to help them and not the "Monitor" who is going to “Ding” them. They all did so well, I felt like "Mom" by the time the week was over. I would say words of encouragement, "Hey, I like the way you helped that person. You are going to do great." The response was always a nod and smile. I said more in praising their hard work than anything else I could have said or done. Then the big day came and they all graduated and received a certificate. I was so proud of them.

I walked up to the group on the last day, (Mind you, they were all under the age 25) and one young girl spoke up and said, “Darlene, we all voted you to be the first lady we have ever met. You are a lady”, a young man said, “Yeah, you dress and talk like a lady. I guess they're (ladies) suppose to act that way, Idunno know, but you’re a lady.” I smiled, and if you know me, then you will already know, I smiled through teary brimmed-filled eyes. Those statements brought on a burden, “If I am the first lady they ever met, Friend, what are they used to seeing?”

They called me outside of the room after they logged-out for the day, because they wanted to talk to me. "Okay", I said, not sure as to why they wanted to talk to me, where none else was asked. When I stepped out they gave me a card that they all signed, thanking me for helping them and for being so nice to them. I thanked them for their kindness toward me.

When they see me in the hallways or in the lunchroom, they hug me and ask for pointers and I gladly help them any way I can. Sometimes, as I walk away I hear the prettiest word, "Lady".
    They called me a lady.
Thank you, Lord, for teaching me to be a Godly lady.
And thank you, Kristen, for choosing me as the model for your photography class.
    I love you, too.

Thank you for visiting with me.

    Vie Amoureuse

Love of life, Vie Amoureuse. Kristen does photography work and her photo shop is called Vie Amoureuse. I wanted to share some of the pictures she has taken that I think are really outstanding. She has an eye for seeing the work as an art.

This is one of my favorites because of the gold illumination that I immediately thought of the song that says, "We are standing on Holy ground".

Vie Amoureuse, because we want to love life, and it shows.
Good job, Kristen. I am so proud of your work.

Thank you for visiting with me today.

    Thank God for the Word!

This morning, Pastor Garrett spoke about loving the Word. We need the Word of God to live for God, to be saved, and to make it through our situations. He said, "Some may think they are going to make it with just fasting, but where do were learn about fasting? Others may think they are going to make it by prayer alone, but where do learn about prayer? It is all in the Word of God. We need the Word of God."
Tonight, Pastor spoke about prayer. Praying until we hear from God, praying until we enter into intercessory prayer, and praying until "Change" comes. We need the Spirit of God and where are we going to find and hear from the Spirit? It is in prayer.
So, I asked myself this question, "Where will I learn to pray until I reach the portals of Heaven and the mountains be moved in my life", and my mind went right back to the morning service, the Word is going to lead me, teach me, and make me what I ought to be when I apply what I found in the Word of God and then praying THAT in my prayers.

    Matthew 6:8b-13
8b…for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11Give us this day our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

I love going to church. I learn so much about living for the Lord. I am seeing my children living for the Lord and serving Him. Together, we are going to church and hearing the Word of God preached. Thank God for the Word, it has kept us.

    The Possibilities Are Endless

I am having so much fun playing with my new toy, PicMonkey. I tried many of their different looks and different layers on a few pictures and am already thinking, Christmas cards, birthday cards, and many other ideas. This is great!
    The original picture.

A bit of vintage flair, Old World, with Daguerreotype

HDR Effect gives an almost comic-book look.

A candle light look with Orton.

    The traditional Black and White.

     Pixelate

Gritty above and below, looks like a sketch-work. I have always wanted a sketched portrait of my kids but did not want to pay the prices for three individual pictures but now I can do it myself. Whalla!

Warhol effect. How about orange and white
    or blue?

and just for fun why not do it again!

The possibilities are endless. Have fun.
